WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT(WIA)

California's 49 Local Workforce Investment Areas (LWIAs) are designated by the Governor based on population and commonality of labor market. Each LWIA is administered by a Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB) certified by the state in partnership with local elected officials. The LWIBs are comprised of representatives from private sector businesses, organized labor, community-based organizations, local government agencies, and local education agencies. LWIBs provide policy guidance, designate operators for their areas One-Stop Career Centers, and oversee the job training activities within their local areas.

To improve access to the range of employment services offered throughout the State, a One Stop Career Center locator is now available by following the link below. To locate the One Stop Career Center nearest you, type in the California city that you reside in and a list of Centers in your area will be provided. You can also find Disability Insurance Offices and Employment Tax Offices in your area. One Stop Career Centers

WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP IN QUALIFYING FOR WIA GRANTS?

ANSWER

To start your application process, first you need to attend one of the orientations that are administered on a regular basis at one of the centers. To locate a center click One Stop Career Centers.
