Meet Our Staff

Charina Olitan

College President
I was born in the Philippines and raised in Chicago. In 1990 I started my career with ITT Technical Institute in West Covina, CA. Throughout my 15 years of experience in education it has been inspiring to guide individuals in achieving their career goals. Prior to joining Northern California College of Construction I worked for Corinthian Colleges and Career Education Corporation.

I am a mother of an eighteen year old son, raising him has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I am an avid sports fan and I enjoy attending professional sporting events.

As College President my focus is to support my team in understanding the needs of our students so they can make an informed decision towards their future.

Donald James

Instructor
I received my education from High School, different Construction schools in the Navy and different OSHA schools. I am involved with El Dorado Hills Arts Association, Placenvill Art Association and El Dorado Gun Club. I am an Artist, I paint in oils and I am a target shooter.

What I like most about my job is the chance to change people lives with the training we give. This school has good equipment and a great teaching facility.

I retired from the U.S. Navy Seabees as an equipment operator. Began teaching for a company in FL, then for a company in Alameda, CA. then retired once again. After I saw the website for Northern California College of Construction, I felt the need to return to work. Since I love to teach, I sent in my resume and was hired.

My father was most inspirational in my career choice. From swinging me around in a bucket of a backhoe when I was young to the support he gave me through the years. Now I like bonding with my students, and hearing about their success after completing the program. I like to golf, fish, and spend time with my girlfriend.

Marcia Monteiro

I was born in Santa Clara, California and I now live in Manteca. My father is a General Contractor, so I have been exposed to the construction business since I was a kid. I am fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. I recently completed a Court Spanish Interpretation/ Translation course.

As the Director of Placement my goal is to assist students in finding employment by locating available job openings and referring students to employers for employment consideration.

In my spare time I enjoy being with my family, traveling, reading books, and participating in sports.

I like that this school is different from other campuses that I have worked at before. The staff is friendly - the whole environment is very appropriate for the college and it's very interesting to work for.

The thing I like most about my job is the people that i work with. Everyone is friendly and very helpful.

The schedule of my previous job didn't allow me to set aside any time for the community. Now that I'm here, I'm hoping to maybe go help coach some of the athletic programs from my community's high schools.

When I'm not at work I like to hang out with my wife and son.

JoAnne Hansana

What I like most about my job is the opportunity to help others who want to better his or her life by receiving an education. I have always said that it is never too late to go back to school. I was fortunate enough to meet my husband my senior year in high school. We married in 1993, a year after I graduated from high school. I have three awesome kids who bring so much laughter in my life.

I have always enjoyed interior decorating and event planning. At my previous career in the hospitality industry, I have arranged grand openings, banquets, weddings, and private parties. As a hobby, I enjoy interior decorating and also home staging on the weekends. As a stress reliever, I love to run!

I am grateful for being able to work with positive and encouraging people. We are here to make sure each student walks away from our school knowing that we helped not only start off their future but motivate them to do well.

I was home with my children for the last six years. I wanted to get into an industry that can utilize my abilities in encouraging others to look past their turmoil and focus on changing their path.

Tom Champlin

Instructor
I was born in San Diego, California, graduated from high school in Yuma, Arizona, but home is wherever I hang my hat. I enjoy spending time with my wife. We enjoy horseback riding, boating, travel and an occasional game of softball and golf. I am a member of Back Country Horsemen of Central Valley, CA.

What I like most about my job is helping people come in to my chosen profession and giving them a good foundation to work with. The campus is in a good location on an old base with security. Can't beat that!

Growing up I was lucky. My dad was in construction as a mechanic and then as a salesman for CAT. So I got the foundation early.
